The Sales Sub-Committee of the 38th Students’ Council aims to help raise funds for the Student Welfare Fund, hopefully in doing so benefit the student population by providing financial aid for students who do not qualify for the MOE financial assistance aid. We raise funds through many initiatives and duties. One of such is the running of the Sales Corner located just next to the Council room, on the second level of the Oldham wing.
We sell a myriad of AC related merchandise after school everyday including a wide variety of stationery, bottle, jackets and the collegiate, which is synonymous with ACJC. As the collegiate is deeply rooted in the history of the college, something that ties the alumni with current students, a mass collegiate order was also done during this year’s orientation, ACxios, to allow all incoming students to be able to get a collegiate. This was carried out simultaneously with the packing of the orientation package, which required certain stocks located in the stocks room.
Besides just merchandise, the Sales Sub-Committee is also responsible for the lockers located all around the college. The lockers I/Cs are in charge of ensuring that the lockers are kept hygienic and in proper condition for usage. These lockers are then rented out for a small fee and this has benefitted many students, especially the sportsmen and DEP (Drama Elective Programme) students, who no longer need to lug their necessary equipment to and from school.
Besides benefitting the student population, the Sub-Committee is in charge of the Council Jacket and Polo Tee. The polo tee is worn during cheering events and is what distinguishes councilors from students during such events, making them easily recognizable. Each polo tee is also unique, with the councilor’s name on it. The jacket, as well is personalized and has the council motto on it, reminding each and every single councilor of the responsibility that the title carries.
