The theme for Teachers’ Day 2014 was “A Teacher for All Seasons”. It embodied and celebrated the different personalities of the teachers, and how they all strived to impact us as students and beyond. In the same way, we feel that TDAH was a fusion of many different individuals, all with the same passion and objectives- to provide an avenue for the students to thank their teachers, and give the teachers a day of rest and enjoyment.
The journey, although a short 1 month, was an enjoyable and meaningful time for us. The process is never easy with crazy nights up, trying to meet datelines and finish the MC script. As it was our first ad-hoc, we never anticipated there was so much to do! There is the choosing of theme, decorations, rehearsals, logistics, etc. There were many uncertainties and missteps, yet we saw the ad-hoc adapt and push on, slowly carving their own niche in their roles. At the end of the day, it is not the struggles that we recall but the encouragements to each other and the drive to do our best.
It was a wonderful experience working with the student body, the Performing Arts CCAs, and the MRC. They were a potpourri of talents, using music and dance to display the different sides of a teacher, and their love for them. Although it was not long since we started planning, that we had our rehearsals, yet during the concert all the efforts and hard work came to fruition. Everyone gave their best with the brightest smiles; it was an inspiring performance.
We are really thankful for the opportunity to plan this event, collaborate with the student body, and the fantastic ad-hoc we were granted. Not to forget the amazing council teachers, Mr Teo and Ms Tan, who guided and taught us. We hope that teachers’ Day 2014 was a meaningful one for all the teachers, and that both teachers and students alike enjoyed it.
