On 13 July, 23 individuals, coming from different backgrounds but united with the heart to serve, took up the mantle of student leadership as the Anglo-Chinese Junior College 40th Students’ Council. The 40th Students’ Council Investiture was witnessed by distinguished guests, parents, student representatives from various schools, as well as the rest of the college.

The 23 of us started our journey with hesitant hearts, fearful of the road ahead. This was especially so given that we were the smallest council in the history of ACJC, having to face doubts in our capabilities to serve. But through believing in ourselves and encouraging one another, we now stand here at the end of it all ready to start a whole new journey, one that will prove to be even more arduous and yet all the more fulfilling. The 39th Students’ Council stepped down from office on the same day, leaving behind 39 years of legacy for us to live up to and surpass. As we step up onto the shoulders of giants, we look towards the future in our service with a cheerful heart, not forgetting the pasts we inherit.

When the baton of leadership was passed to us on that day, we pledged to be sincere, selfless and united realising that as students leaders of Anglo-Chinese Junior College, all eyes will be on us. The student body will look up to us for inspiration and the teachers will look at us with higher expectations. Although it is not going to be easy balancing all these, we are confident we can do so by taking the step forward together as one council. Sincere in Spirit, Selfless in Service, we are ready to serve our college.
