Seniors’ Night 2014, also known this year as GlamourAC, started off on a high note as the Class of 2014 broke sales record by filling up the maximum capacity of Marriott Hotel with 51 tables, a sight not seen in many years! The ticket sales started in early August and the SNAH members were very excited that we managed to sell out the tables. This definitely served as a huge motivation for us to ensure that Seniors’ Night would be a memorable and unforgettable night for all the seniors.

Five months of planning was definitely not an easy task but all our SNAH members placed in our utmost efforts throughout. We definitely met with obstacles along the way but every obstacle we overcame was a learning point for every one of us. It made us stronger and allowed us to work better as a team. We also received encouraging words from our seniors’ throughout the course of our journey, even before the grand night itself such as through successful ticketing or spontaneous responses to our audition calls.

On 4th December 2014, the 39th Students’ Council was blessed with the support of the Media Resource Crew (MRC), Photography Society and RadioACtive to ensure the smooth running of the programme, and most importantly, to create a night of fascination and enchantment that memorably represents an authentic and dynamic ACJC experience.

The highlight of the night was certainly our one-of-a-kind GlamourAC helium balloons, before which our chic and stylish seniors grabbed every opportunity to pose glamorously and capture the enduring friendships they have forged over the last two years.

One hurdle we faced was crowd control outside the ballroom. With all our seniors waiting to take pictures at the photobooth and waiting for their friends to arrive, the reception area was packed with seniors. This served as a challenge for our council but we managed to usher the seniors into the ballroom quickly so as to kickstart the night’s exciting programmes.

The seniors' talent was also given the limelight in two special performances, starting with the revue put together by Ethan and Dominic as the evening's opening act, entitled 'What is the AC Spirit?’. It featured an eclectic mix of skit, dance, rap, music and kungfu. The other performance was a medley of ballads charmingly performed by Dominic, Judith and Tze Shiuan.

Well, what’s Senior’s Night without recognising our most glamorous stars of the night, right? Mohammad Amirul Bin Saini and Isabelle Wee took the Best Dressed awards after winning the most thunderous AC claps in the Marriot ballroom. The much coveted Mr & Miss ACJC titles of 2014 went to Justin May and Natascha Voelker, who braved through cheeky interview questions and a live impromptu couple dance segment with integrity, tenacity and passion.

The night was made glamorous by the stylish appearance of every ACSian under the lights and cameras present. It was definitely a great sight to see all our seniors with their bright smiles, eager to conclude their final chapter in ACJC on a high note.

Overall, the event’s running was smooth thanks to everyone’s hard work and effort. Our Council was able to enjoy ourselves that night whilst playing our part to make the event a success. Senior’s Night gave us an insight into what we can hope to expect for Seniors’ Night 2015 and indeed it is something that keeps us anticipating for the year that is coming ahead.

Once again, GlamourAC: Lights, Camera, ACSian!
